This initiative, which started in 2020 as part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus, helps schools hire education and general school assistants. These positions provide valuable work experience for youth aged 18 to 35, while also supporting schools with much-needed help.
Phase V is expected to open for applications soon, and thousands of young South Africans are encouraged to apply. Those selected will be placed in schools for a fixed period, where they will assist with teaching, administration, maintenance, and other school-related tasks.
The department says the initiative not only reduces youth unemployment but also strengthens education by improving learner support in schools.
